The land and the house at 215 E. Calhoun Street have apparently been investment property for much of the past 100 years. It is fitting that the property continues to be an investment - this time an investment in people. Through the generous considerations of Dr. Rajeev Malik, the current owner, the property is home to the Cancer Association of Anderson.
The architecture of the house is typical post -Victorian -- plain and unadorned -- with a large center hall and rooms on either side. The beautiful verandah across the front honors the memory of Barbara Craft, a founding board member of CAA and an avid gardener. Thanks to Dr. Malik, the building underwent renovations in June that included the removal of the roof (all three-five layers of it), application of a new roof, foundation repairs and tree surgery. Bonitz Flooring donated new carpeting throughout and youth groups from Central Presbyterian Church spent three days painting, cleaning and planting flowers. You'll notice the difference next time you visit or drive by!
