Catch a Ride in a Dragon!

Cancer survivors are invited to learn about dragon boating this spring and summer in Huo Li, the beautiful dragon boat. What’s a dragon boat? It's a 40-foot long canoe with a dragon head and tail, paddled by 20 people in perfect synchronicity (if all goes well...), a steersperson guiding their course and a drummer keeping them together by beating a large wooden drum. Dragon boating began in China 2,000 years ago and has had a resurgence of popularity. There are now dragon boat programs all over the world, and they are especially popular with cancer survivors because of the exercise and camaraderie created in the “floating support group”. Huo Li was purchased last summer and is in winter drydock at Big Water Marina. Paddling will begin in April.
