Catch a Ride with the C Dragons!
The C Dragons of the Cancer Association of Anderson enjoy exercise and camaraderie created in their “floating support group.” Cancer survivors and their supporters are invited to learn about dragon boating with the C Dragons. What’s a dragon boat? It's a 41-foot long canoe with a dragon head and tail, paddled by 20 people in perfect synchronicity (if all goes well...), a steersperson guiding their course and a drummer keeping them together by beating a large wooden drum.
The boat is in dry-dock for the winter, but we pulled it out for the Anderson Christmas parade, held this past Sunday, Dec. 4. Some of our paddlers had fun pretending to paddle down Main Street while dressed in festive holiday attire!!
Want to get involved in 2012? E-mail Dondi Barnhart, C Dragons president at s.dondi@att.net
Buy a scale on the dragon! For each $100 donated, you will get your name on a scale on the side of the boat. Go to our Donations page to sign up. Under the menu "I would like this donation to be used for", click "Dragon Boat Program" and be sure and fill in the name of the person you want on the scale under "Dedication." You'll get a written confirmation.
Congratulations to the C Dragons for winning the best decorated boat, Charity's Division, at the Broadway Lake Family Fun Day on September 17 and for coming in fifth in the boat race (after capsizing at the dock)! Dondi Barnhart and Beth Thomas were our contestants.
