2012-2013 Susan Komen Mountains to Midlands Grant Awards Presentation
Tammy Van Gieson, 2011-21012 Board Chairman of Susan Komen Mountains to Midlands Affiliate, presents a grant check for $41,950 to CAA Executive Director, Kristin Palmer Williams at the Grant Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday, March 29. The ceremony was held at the new Komen offices, located in downtown Greenville near Falls Park. There were a total of 5 grants given to organizations within the upstate. The CAA is honored to be the only organziation in Anderson County chosen to receive this coveted grant. The Komen grant allows the CAA to provide Anderson County breast cancer patients with financial assistance for cancer treatment, including transportation to doctor's appointments, distant travel financial aid, prescriptions, medical equipment, and nutrition.
The Cancer Association of Anderson was founded in March 2003 by a group of cancer survivors, health care professionals and community leaders who want to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and survivors and their families living in Anderson County, S.C.
The charming 100-year-old home that houses our office belongs to Dr. Rajeev Malik, and we appreciate so much his generosity in providing us this beautiful home!
Our Services Include:

Up to $1,000 a year in assistance for treatment-related expenses, including prescription medicine and gas to get to medical appointments -
Emotional support through support groups and free enrollment in AnMed Health's Oncology Rehab program and our own Survivor School.

Free new and gently used wigs, hats, breast prostheses and mastectomy bras -
A library of books and pamphlets -
Connection to other people who have fought cancer and survived. -
Referral to services here and elsewhere that will help cancer patients and their families - Loans of medical equipment in partnership with Anderson Lights of Hope
